Lost and Found (Song): Credit In The Straight World - Young Marble Giants

Hi, and welcome to the rock I've been living under for the past two decades. Only recently did I realize Hole's version was a cover. I know, crazy right? Listening to Colossal Youth now you can hear how much of the Young Marble Giants sound was borrowed throughout the "grunge" 90s, and back then I hated that sound. It was all so dark and plodding; no humor at all. Oh yeah, maybe there was the requisite ironic cover every now and then, but aside from that, the early 90s was a dirgelike parade of gloom.

Of course, all this has nothing to do with the original song. Unlike Courtney Love's howl, singer Alison Statton has a sweet, but sort of distanced quality to her voice. I'm rediscovering both bands as I write this, and fighting the urge to pick one version over the other. (And yeah, other bands have covered "Credit In The Straight World" as well.)
