One of the first posts I was drafted to write for a big, important blog was the lack of women in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. That was three years ago, and women still come up short, as nominees and inductees.
It would be naive to suggest that rock music in general has been anything less than a boy's club, and I don't entirely fault the hall for just following trend, but the 2012 list is out , and out of fifteen artists, four are women: Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Heart, singer-songwriter, Laura Nyro, and Donna Summer. Five if you count the Chaka Khan half of Rufus and Chaka Khan. Looking at some the critical and commercial powerhouses also up this year, like the Beastie Boys, the Cure, and Guns 'n Roses, the prospects don't look good for many of these women to actually get inducted.
