Unless I get to see Michael Phelp's "bitch face," too.
It's disheartening and all-too predictable when the look of a determined, focused athlete who happens to be female is interpreted as bitchface. (This thread is rife with it, and here's an entire post dedicated to it.) McKayla Maroney is one of the top athletes in her sport. Like Gabby Douglas whose hair was criticized early in the games (she had a fantastic retort, by the way), it saddens me to think that with all the support women's sports have gotten over the past few decades, we still haven't come far enough that it's not out of the realm to criticize their hair, their bodies, or that they don't smile enough.
