The New Normal (along with Smash and ABC's Happy Endings ) is getting the axe. Damn, I was just starting to like it too.
It's too easy to draw parallels between The New Normal's Bryan and David, and Modern Family's Cam and Mitchell -- and perhaps a little unfair -- but at least Bryan and David were allowed to be affectionate. I don't think I've ever seen Cam and Mitchell touch. In the world of prime time television where gay, but not too gay, is the rule, it was a pretty big deal.
At least this frees up Andrew Rannells to go back to Girls.
