Earworm of the Day: Kevin Aviance - Gimme More

I was well into my thirties before I seriously listened to pop music. One of the most salient things I ever wrote was after Michael Jackson's death more than four years ago:. I said, "for most of my life, Michael Jackson was a punch line." And it was true. I was that kid who was too cool for top forty -- pop music was a punch line for my friends and me. Then I got paid to write about music, and not just the music I liked. If I wanted to be taken seriously, I couldn't just be that aging hipster who hates everything that moved more than a couple thousand units. I had to listen to pop music.. and I liked it. Except for Britney Spears. I just can't get past her strange hiccup-y voice. But I do like Britney covers. This one from dance/club performer Kevin Aviance is one of my current favorites.
