Camp NaNo Preparedness

I'm taking a short story I wrote that's too similar to one of better short stories and expanding on it. Of course, I've never done this before.

I hate outlining, but for something like NaNo where the pace is so frenetic, I have to or I'd spend most of my writing time staring at a blank screen hoping to get inspire. (Which is my general attitude toward writing.) My outlines tend to be very loose; informal. Something along the lines of "here's chapter three... and some stuff happens." Oh the vaguery.

I wrote a longer piece on my writing process, which is boring so I won't post the entire thing here, but basically, I start with something conceptual and then people it. I don't write out detailed plot points -- most of my writing is character driven, so it's not really necessary, but I see a lot of writers struggling with plot and wonder if I should change my entire attack.
