Album (And Singles) of the Week - Grab Bag

This summer's been a little slow on the new releases front; ergo, I have a handful of things I've been meaning to get to.

I listened to a little of Cyndi Lauper's Memphis Blues, something I've been wanting to hear in its entirety, so I'll save a fleshed-out review for later. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed, though. I love when artists step outside their comfort zones, and lord knows Cyndi has the voice for these sings, but it was, dare I say, a little boring?

Unrelated, but still cool, Corin Tucker has a solo record coming out Oct. 5, but you can download the single, "Doubt" for free. (Via Pitchfork)
