Earworm of the Day: Ryan Adams - Come Pick Me Up

Some days I struggle to find "appropriate" music for this site. I've been a music blogger in some capacity for nearly a decade, but only in past few years I've the hubris to call myself a feminist one.

Viewing various forms of media through a feminist lens is frustrating, tedious, and impossible to turn off once you've committed your life (or just your livelihood) to it. There's a ton of music out there I love, feel nostalgic for, to which I have some sort of emotional bond, that I don't share here because while this is largely still a personal blog, it's a personal blog with a hypocrite's caveat that it's not really about me. Or it's only about me when it's ideologically correct. There's a misconception that once you label yourself, or what you do, "feminist*," you're never allowed to be ideologically flawed -- ever. What you read, watch, listen to, put into your bodies and brains music be in the name of FEMINSIM.

It's pretty ridiculous.

Anyway, here's a song I like for no other reason than "I like it." It probably doesn't pass the Willis test , but it reminds of a time in my life I really enjoyed. I hope you enjoy it too.

*A label I'm close to rejecting for very real, very valid reasons.
