Juliana Hatfield's first solo album in just about two years, Peace and Love is a sparse, mostly acoustic record that embodies the whole "low-key, recorded in the safety of your own bedroom" aesthetic. Paste magazine's Jeff Levin apt description:
If forced modesty is the hallmark of the current business model, at least Hatfield has the grace to pull it off without bitterness or recrimination. While her album shares its laptop atmosphere with many other troubadours plying Boston’s streets, it’s sprinkled with heavyweight pro touches that belie her deeper legacy.
Peace and Love's dozen songs are delicate, sometimes so much that they float in and out of each other. "Why Can't We Love Each Other" is a standout, along with "Evan" (if you know Julianna's history, you can figure out who that's about).
