There are many things wrong with this piece, the least of which is the infantilization of all things feminine. This should be old news by now, but yes, one can proclaim herself a feminist and still like sparkly nail polish; one can be an adult woman and still like hair bows.
Policing femininity is always problematic, but that's not the only thing going on here. There's a hefty does of classism, too. The proper and correct way to be an adult woman is to be a middle-class, preferably white, one. I'm reminded of an essay I read years ago about how my generation refuses to grow up. The author posited that because he never saw his father in jeans, he was undeniably grown-up; the author wore nothing but. Obviously working-class fathers who wear jeans to work and come home with dirty hands don't qualify as adults either.
