Reading the comments for this video on YouTube make me feel like I'm 150-years-old, but Byrne's book, How Music Works, has a nice explanation how the lyrics came about, and the making of the video.

If I may have a "back in my day moment," I am old enough to remember getting MTV for the first time, and this song, plus "And She Was," and "Burning Down the House," playing in regular rotation.
