Faye Hunter, bass player for the 80s indie band, Let's Active, died earlier this month from an apparent suicide. Says Jack Rabid , editor of The Big Takeover:
"I didn’t know her well; I met her once or twice, memorably two straight nights when Let’s Active opened for Echo & the Bunnymen at the Savoy Theater near Times Square in the spring of 1984, but I thought she was super friendly besides being a fine bass player. But as someone who enjoyed the group and their spirited live work (of which her bass playing, backing vocals, and occasional lead vocal was a key part of what made Mitch Easter‘s group tick), it’s a sad day for Let’s Active’s fans and for those of us who have a special place in our hearts for all the fine music and especially all the fine, nice, music-loving musicians and people that came out of the Georgia/North Carolina sister scenes of the early 1980s."This is especially sad as a lot of women from that era have essentially been written out of history as musicians and performers. R.I.P. Faye.
