Housekeeping Redux

I redid the Goodreads shelves . I know these are more for me than anything else, but if someone finds a few good books because of them, my job is done. I de-Dworkined, so to speak. Yeah, I had a couple of  her books on my feminism shelve because I think she's a good writer. I've always admired her complete conviction in her words, but she's part of that transphobic second wave canon of feminist writers, and I can't in good faith keep her on any of my lists, even when viewed with enough historical distance.

This is the problem I have with second wave feminism. A lot of those writers were my entry into feminism, and, if anything, they forced me to seek out more inclusive works. Some of those books are just plain dated. I'm reading Marjorie Garber's Vice Versa right now -- a massive tome on bisexuality that was published twenty years ago. It's very much tethered to the 90s, though the historical parts are good. And that's too bad because for an academic book, it's very readable.
