So according to this brilliant time waster, I wouldn't sound out of place (accent-wise) in Rockford IL, Fort Wayne IN, or St. Louis MO. Since one of those actually is my hometown (go Cards), and the other two are less than five hours away, that's scarily accurate. I didn't take a screen shot of my map, but it was basically a big read smear between St. Louis and Chicago.
My mom, who is also from St. Louis, had Birmingham as her top result, which is odd, unless you consider that her family is a small town on the MO/AR border, which I guess could account for the southern influence, but damn if I'm not a basic Midwesterner.
I got basic midwesterner with Portland/Vancouver, Salt Lake City and Honolulu. I'd be interested to see a Canadian version of this, since there is a good amount of variation across Canada as well.
