Just a Phase

I see this a lot in the SJ/queer blog world, chalking up someone's gender or sexual identity -- especially a young person's gender identity -- to "just being a phase": something they'll grow out of an rejoin the het/cis world. That may be true, but that doesn't make it any less real at that moment.
