Shelving: Tampa by Alissa Nutting

I started reading Tampa by Alissa Nutting last year and quickly aborted it. I don't know why. There's something... lacking in awareness?. From what I've read, it's either a more literary 50 Shades of Gray, or a distaff Lolita. (For better update on Lolita, I recommend Alan Hollinghurst's The Folding Star, which culminates in a scene that is both erotic and disturbing.) The reviews have been all over the place, but I like the idea of writer a female character who's entirely despicable, and not in the any of the conventionally sanctioned ways.

  1. A well written, nice and sexy story. Maybe a bit taboo, but no harm done and many fantasies realised. A nice escape, which is what fiction is all about. Thank you.
