Earworm of the Day - Stina Nordenstam - Little Star
I was alerted to this Stina Nordenstam's music through Katherine St Asaph's tumblr. If "Little Star" sounds familiar, it's probably because it was featured prominently on the soundtrack to Romeo & Juliet more than a decade ago.
Without waxing poetic about how everything was right and good in the 90s, it's hard to imagine a singer like Nordenstam nabbing a prime spot on a the soundtrack to a popular movie, or her video airing on MTV during most people's waking hours. (Okay, M2, MTV's bratty little sister.) Or maybe it's too easy with high schoolers becoming youtube sensations with nothing more more than two turntables and a microphone (and Pro Tools). But her voice is still something from another era, or maybe another planet. I hate tossing around phrases like "such a unique talent," but it's completely applicable here.
